Every year World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated from 1 to 7 August to encourage breastfeeding and to improve the health of mothers and baby. Like for each and every mother, breastfeeding is an emotional and motivating experience and our Bollywood mothers are no different. From sharing their experience to sharing tips on how to handle babies, here is what our Bollywood’s supermoms have to say about their breastfeeding journey.
What Bollywood Celebrities Mothers say about breastfeeding their babies?
Kareena Kapoor Khan
One of the most stylish actors in Hindi cinema, Kareena Kapoor Khan gave birth to Taimur in 2016. The actor had this to say:
"First, we need to feed our newborn babies in the best way that we can: with our own breast milk. To give your baby the best start in life that he or she deserves, start breastfeeding within the first hour of life – and feed the baby only breast milk, nothing else."
Lara Dutta
Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta, a mother to Zaira, has often advocated the health benefits of breastfeeding.
“After seven months of motherhood, apart from exercising and dieting, breastfeeding helped me to tone my body up to get back to acting,” said the spouse of tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi.
Raveena Tandon
Indian actor and producer, Raveena Tandon is a doting mother to her four children.
“Breastfeed for at least six months. Don't give in to the pressure of getting back in shape in an insanely short time. It's neither good for you, nor you're newborn. Check with your gynecologist what foods you should be consuming. Strict dieting at this time is a no-no. And yes, breastfeeding can actually help you burn calories!”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Bollywood actor and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gave birth to Aradhya in 2011. She breastfed her little one for a long time.
"Enjoy your motherhood years no matter how consuming it might be. You must always remember that having a child is a blessing. Plan well and give everything its sweet time.”
Nandita Das
Social activist Nandita Das is a mother-of-one, and an advocate of the many benefits that breastfeeding provides.
“I always knew that breastfeeding was good for a baby but I never knew how important colostrum (the first thick yellow milk) is to protect him from so many diseases."

Bollywood actor and former Miss India - Celina Jaitly, who is a mother of four children believe that there are several benefits of breastfeeding.

Karisma Kapoor, actor and elder sister of Kareena Kapoor Khan, is super stylish and a hands-on mom to her two children.
“Women often have various notions about some foods which should or shouldn’t be eaten when they are pregnant. And when it is about shedding kilos after pregnancy, it becomes even more crucial to lose weight in a safe manner without depriving your body of the essential nutrients. After all, you need to breastfeed your baby and manage other tasks as well, and not eating right will only harm your body.”
